18ct Gold Suffragette Ring. Hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Chester 3.55g

This stunning ring is set in a buttery 18ct Gold, and features a bright, central oval cut amethyst sandwiched between four sparkling old cut diamonds, and on either end, two shimmering green peridots.

Jewellery which combined peridot, amethyst and diamonds or pearls together was often referred to as suffragette jewellery, as it was in these colours that the suffragettes were thought to communicate to each other that they supported the suffragette movement. (Green for 'Give', White for 'Women' and Violet for 'Vote')

All the gems are in super condition, and they catch the light beautifully. The band is currently a UK size R 1/2 (US size 8 3/4) but it could easily be re-sized up or down. It weighs 3.55g and is clearly hallmarked for 18ct Gold and Chester. The date has been rubbed but i would date it to between 1900 and 1918.

These classic, antique rings are extremely difficult to find nowadays and are snapped up very quickly.
